Seemingly there have only been two consistencies throughout the career of Cheryl Cole. Throughout her career in the spotlight the Girls Aloud singer has had trouble follow her; from early assault charges through to her divorce and her high profile firing from the X-Factor, Cole’s career has been consistently tumultuous. The only other consistency in this has been that, no matter what has been going on around her, Cole has always managed to look fabulous!
The Fight For Your Love singer has made a name for herself amongst fashionistas as a figure of envy and has done so by cultivating her own style which is a unique blends of high street fashion and urban trends. A fantastic example of Cole’s unique approach to dress can be illustrated with a recent outfit she sported in Paris which, on paper, sounds like a real fashion disaster but which, in reality, was an incredibly bold and confident outfit inspiring jealousy from fashion bloggers across the globe. Cole’s £320 Ksubi dress was made up of a patchwork of recent trends, amongst them colour blocking and animal print, and featured a frontal zip on a black, green and baby blue dress which boasted also a leopard print motif. Teaming this, as she did, with a £740 pair of calf hair six inch heels should have been an incredible clash but, in Cole’s hands, became a wonderful and vibrant concoction of an ensemble.
As of late Cole has favoured teaming incredibly volumised hair with vividly coloured dresses, often neon or primary, which she will team with either incredibly high heels or similarly sized platforms or wedges. The footwear is a calculated choice on Cole’s behalf – apart from the leg lengthening qualities of the shoes, they also allow the diminutive Cole to, of course, appear taller that she actually is. She chooses dress length to perfectly compliment this; the dresses usually finish at mid-thigh which gives the illusion of much longer legs whilst also appearing as classy.
Cutaways are another fashion choice Cole has plumped for to help give the illusion of a more curvy body by accentuating and enhancing various areas. So, for example, many of Cole’s dresses will have cutaways just above the hip area which, by now having material that appears in an hour glass shape, will give the appearance of wider hips and a more slender waist; as Cole is both small and svelte these tips are ideal for giving her the look of a taller and more curvaceous lady.
As well as shapes Cole has also mastered the art of wearing different colours to give her a unique appearance from the rest of her contemporaries. Another recent occasion in Paris saw the singer combine a tangerine dress with seemingly mismatched lime wedges. These shoes, which of course featured a six inch platform, were part of her calculated image to appear taller but they also served the purpose of on purposefully clashing with the dress colour which, in turn, brought attention to both.
Although no one is sure where the next step of the recently 29 year old Cole’s career will take her there is one thing that is certain based on her career so far: she will look amazing doing it!
